Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal on Sunday briefed the Legislature Parliament about the country's security situation and measures his government plans to apply to bring notable improvements in it.
In his 10-minute long speech at the House, PM Khanal expressed his commitment in forming a justice commission for conducting a fair investigation on an attempt on the life of jailed television executive Yunus Ansari by Indian contract killer Jasjeet Singh inside the high security Central Jail few days ago.
Stating that the government plans to improve security monitoring in major towns and cities across the country to control rise in criminal activities immediately, the PM also asked people to remain assured that Singh, who is under the police custody, would get appropriate punishment for his crime.
PM Khanal informed the House that the last lot of the stranded Nepali workers in Libya will be brought home by Monday, saying only five Nepalis remain to be rescued.
Meanwhile, PM Khanal said the government has not received any information regarding casualty of Nepalis in Japan which was devastated by powerful earthquake and subsequent Tsunami on Friday.
In another context, the PM highlighted some of the latest progress achieved in the integration of the UCPN (Maoist) combatants, saying a concrete modality of the integration and adjustment of Maoist combatants would be finalised very soon.
