AU Leaders to Mediate Libyan Crisis

South African President Jacob Zuma flies to the capital, Tripoli, Sunday, where he will be joined by the presidents of Mauritania, Mali and Leaders from the African Union are headed to Libya in an effort to resolve the political crisis between longtime leader Moammar Gadhafi and rebels attempting to overthrow him.
South African President Jacob Zuma flies to the capital, Tripoli, Sunday, where he will be joined by the presidents of Mauritania, Mali and Congo. The group will meet with Mr. Gadhafi for talks before heading to Benghazi for a meeting with rebel leaders.
Heavy fighting continues on at least two fronts in Libya.
Pro-Gadhafi forces continued shelling the eastern town of Ajdabiya Sunday.
Witnesses reported hearing shooting and artillery fire and seeing large plumes of smoke. At least 11 people were killed in fighting there Saturday.
Separately, the Associated Press reports that pro-Gadhafi forces shot down two rebel helicopters in Brega, an oil town west of Ajdabiya.
Brega has been the scene of intense fighting in recent days with it going from government to rebel control and back again several times since the start of an uprising against Mr. Gadhafi.
